China represents an opportunity for Mexico to diversify its exports to other markets, such as the Asia Pacific region, currently considered as the engine of growth of the world economy, said José Manuel López Campos, president of the Confederation of National Chambers of Commerce, Services and Tourism (Concanaco – Servytur).
The Chinese market represents 10 times the internal trade of Mexico and grows at an annual rate of 6 percent, so it is required, he said, to insert itself to its dynamics and link with it “it has to be an opportunity to get closer to other markets in Asia”.
He recalled that since November 2019, Concanaco Servytur installed Casa México in Shanghai, where it exhibits products and promotes both services and national tourist attractions.
The companies affiliated with the organization, he added, intend to increase their presence in China, since it is the second commercial partner and third export market of Mexico, but also because they are looking for new markets in Asia.
Trade mission of Chinese businessmen visits Mexico
The statements of López Campos were given that Concanaco Servytur received a mission from businessmen from the Baohe delegation, from the city of Hefei in Anhui province, who are interested in increasing the presence of Mexican products in China and in sign a collaboration agreement for commercial exchange.
The business leader considered that “de facto” there is an alliance between Mexico and China because they produce together to reach markets like the United States.
“That alliance or association represents an opportunity, not only to continue exporting to the United States market, but to open new commercial spaces abroad,” said López Campos, but acknowledged that Mexico accumulates a “large-scale” trade deficit with China.
