Another human rights activist murdered in Mexico

Human rights activist Eliseo Jesús Memije Martínez and his son were murdered in the Yetla community, municipality of Coyuca de Benítez, in the state of Guerrero.

Eliseo Jesús Memije Martínez was a human rights delegate for the Human Righs Commission of Guerrero in the Costa Grande region.

According to the police report, Memije Martínez was driving through the Yatla community when gunmen shot the activist and his son.

The human rights activist was on his way to Tecpan, where the Human Rights Commission offices are located.

Guerrero’s Human Rights Commission demanded justice and said authorities should investigate the attack as the result of his labor as an activist.
