260 tons of garbage is collected from San Cristobal de las Casas rivers

San Cristóbal de Las Casas.- The Municipal Public Works Directorate announced that they have collected at least 260 tons of garbage from the rivers of this city, so they will continue with the cleaning work.


Avelino García Montoya announced that this is done on the Yellow River, in the section that includes the La Kisst Bridge, to the Morelos Bridge, which is located next to the American Football Stadium.


Faced with this situation, he called on citizens not to litter in the city’s tributaries, since this causes flooding in different streets and neighborhoods of the municipality “that people worry more about not throwing garbage because this affects us all ”, he emphasized.


He also reported that during two weeks of work they have collected a total of 260 tons of garbage such as; pet, tires, dead animals, wood, beams, among others.


Finally, García Montoya, warned that this could cause future floods since they have been cleaning the Yellow River for two weeks and a lot of debris has been found.
