One soldier died and two others were injured in an ambush on a military convoy in the municipality of Marqués de Comillas, when they were carrying out patrols.
The area has been the scene of a territorial dispute by criminal groups and, despite being surprised, the soldiers managed to repel the aggression, although it is unknown if any criminals were killed.
According to the Municipal Police, a group of people traveling in vehicles shot at the uniformed officers who were traveling in their artillery units in one of the Marqués de Comillas ejidos.
The communities are divided due to the presence of organized crime groups, and whenever the Sedena elements patrol, they are rejected and accused of supporting a certain criminal gang, without this information having been verified.
The municipality of Marqués de Comillas is located in the jungle zone of Chiapas, between the municipality of Ocosingo and Benemérito de las Américas, near the border of Mexico with Guatemala and the Lacandona Jungle; According to versions from the Municipal Police, the military convoy was traveling through the area when it was surprised by alleged criminals.
