In the framework of the Bicentennial of Chiapas, poets from San Cristóbal announced that from September 18 to 21, 2024, the X World Festival of Contemporary Poetry will be held, and that 20 countries from around the world will be present, so they invited citizens to attend the festival, because it will be held in honor of the State of Chiapas, its official inauguration will be on the 19th of the same month.
In this regard, Chari Gumeta, director of the World Festival of Contemporary Poetry in San Cristóbal, said in a press conference that this year the X Festival will be held in museums, cultural centers and schools in the city of San Cristóbal, 20 countries will be present: South America, Latin America, the United States, Africa, Europe, unfortunately the Middle East will not attend due to the conflict that exists in the countries.

“We dedicate this festival to the Bicentennial of Chiapas. Registration will begin on the 18th in the halls of the Musac and on the 19th at 9:30 in the morning it will be officially inaugurated in the Teatro de la Ciudad Hermanos Domínguez. We invite the population to attend the festival. Admission will be free,” he said.
He added that during the festival, the second Oscar Oliva medal will also be awarded to a person from San Cristóbal. The festival will also be held in museums, cultural centers and schools. “Come because the event will be totally free.”
