Elementary school teacher killed in Chiapas; he ran a news page on Facebook

Luis Alberto Amaya López, an elementary school teacher who had a Facebook page in the municipality of Villa Corzo, was killed this Friday morning, December 27, by a commando that entered his house, El Universal reported according to the report of local authorities.

The 31-year-old teacher was killed with several gunshots in his own house, located in the Revolución Mexicana neighborhood, where elements of the Municipal and State Police arrived, and later experts from the District Attorney’s Office.

Witnesses say that around 1:15 a.m. this Friday, they heard gunshots in Amaya López’s house, near the Villa Corzo Hospital.

Amaya López taught classes at an elementary school in the municipality of La Concordia, near Villa Corzo.

His Facebook page, Villa Corzo al momento, opened in 2023, had 24 thousand followers and the last two posts were about a man accused of committing robberies in Tuxtla and two traffic accidents in Villaflores.
