After several months of violence in the Sierra Madre region of Chiapas and the border area, calm and daily life are slowly beginning to be restored in the affected communities.

According to residents consulted by Diario del Sur, there are three public transport cooperatives that are currently traveling the roads in the border area and the Sierra Madre of Chiapas.

They explained that as of yesterday, 18 public transport units are already operating again, offering service on different routes in this area of Chiapas that until December 8 could not be traveled freely.

Throughout the 20th century, it faced challenges such as earthquakes, landslides and floods, characteristic of its geographic location.
They commented that the authorities have helped things to get back on track, because before there were blockades, conflicts between the inhabitants and federal authorities such as the Mexican Army.

The routes that are connected by the cooperatives are from Frontera Comalapa to Comitán, since there are no longer blockades that the groups of residents installed due to the crime that is disputed in that area of Chiapas.

They highlighted that another section that is gradually becoming normal is the Comalapa-Motozintla with a stop in Amatenango de la Frontera, where users make transfers to continue their trip, but it is in a natural way.

Residents of the region expressed their hope that normality continues to arrive gradually, highlighting the importance of coordination between the different levels of government to guarantee security and tranquility in the area.

It is worth mentioning that in that stretch of road there were checkpoints of armed men, who even detained the president of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum, when she made a tour of the area during her electoral campaign.
