The operations carried out in the municipalities of Villaflores and Villa Corzo, in the state of Chiapas, which concluded with the arrest of 78 people, including 65 municipal police officers and officials, stood out among the relevant actions of the Security Cabinet of the Government of Mexico, during the weekend.
On Friday, January 24, the director of Roads and Traffic of Villaflores, Xóchitl Castañón Burguete, the municipal secretary of the city council, René Madariaga, and María del Carmen Méndez Moreno, leader of motorcycle taxi drivers, were arrested, accused of extortion of businessmen, ranchers and taxi drivers of that town.
In this operation, against a network of corruption and extortion, the authorities seized two long weapons, a short weapon and two vehicles, one of them with armor.
The agencies that make up the Security Cabinet of the Mexican government carried out, between Friday, January 24 and Sunday, January 27, arrests, searches, seizures of firearms and different types of drugs.
The operations were carried out in Baja California Sur, Baja California, Chiapas, Chihuahua, Mexico City, Colima, Durango, State of Mexico, Guanajuato, Guerrero, Hidalgo, Michoacán, Nayarit, Nuevo León, Puebla, Quintana Roo, Querétaro, Sinaloa, Sonora, Tabasco, Veracruz and Zacatecas, it was indicated.
In the State of Mexico, elements of the Mexican Army, National Guard, the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC) and the State Prosecutor’s Office, arrested the former municipal president of Santo Tomás de los Plátanos, María del Rosario “N”, accused of the crimes of extortion, kidnapping and organized crime.
In La Paz, Baja California, six unauthorized security cameras were uninstalled and removed in various neighborhoods of the municipality, allegedly used by organized crime.
In the municipality of Uruachi, in Chihuahua, elements of the Mexican Army located a plastic box containing 40 improvised explosive devices.
