With the goal of highlighting the historical struggle of the LGBTIQ+ community and demanding full respect for their human rights, the Organizing Committee of the 16th March for Sex-Gender and Affective Diversity announced that the 2025 LGBTIQ+ Pride and Dignified Existence March will take place next Sunday, June 22nd.
In an open call, they invited the community to join this struggle to continue demanding respect in all areas of life: personal, professional, and anywhere in the country. “Because many are harassed, persecuted, and murdered,” they denounced during a press conference.
The meeting point will be the esplanade of the Administrative Unit, starting at 10:00 a.m., from where the mobilization will depart and travel through the main streets of the city, a day of protest, resistance, and celebration of diverse identities.
The organizers emphasized that this march is not only a celebration of pride, but also an opportunity to denounce the multiple forms of violence, discrimination, and exclusion that people of sexual and gender diversity continue to face in Chiapas and the rest of the country.
They also called on Mexican state institutions to guarantee a life free of prejudice, stigma, and aggression for the entire sexually dissident population.
“The march is a political act of resistance, memory, and demand. We take to the streets for those who came before, for those who fight today, and for the children and youth who deserve to live in freedom,” they expressed.
Finally, the Committee expressed its gratitude for the support of allied collectives, civil organizations, cultural spaces, and independent activists who collaborate in the organization of the march and the cultural, academic, and recreational activities that will take place throughout the month of June.
