Chiapas Fashion Night shone in San Cristobal de las Casas

There are fashion shows that remind you why fashion matters, and Chiapas Fashion Night was precisely that. In San Cristóbal de las Casas, the night felt more vibrant and attentive to detail. Under the concept of Ancestral Vanguard, the runway truly put the artisans center stage, giving them the spotlight and allowing them to speak through their textiles. The colors, symbols, and textures did the work without needing explanation. More than an event, it was the feeling of stepping into the textile heart of Chiapas and discovering firsthand the treasures safeguarded there.

The evening took place at MUSAC, where brands like Folklora, Impacto, Dos Tierra, Kip Tik, Handmade to Market, Juxta, and the jewelry of Arturo Cáceres shared the same stage. Each with its own identity, they work with communities to create dialogue and represent craftsmanship through each garment. Some designers opted for cleaner silhouettes, others for dense embroidery or natural materials, but all shared one thing in common: tradition here isn’t just an aesthetic device, it’s a living language. And seeing how each designer interpreted it without erasing it was the most exciting part of the night.

Perhaps the most valuable aspect of Chiapas Fashion Night is that it reminded us that fashion can also be born from memory and national pride. It was just one part of El Mequé 2025, a vast project that blends culture, art, music, food, and community, but it still managed to leave a clear mark: Chiapas’s identity remains relevant. And it demonstrates this with every fabric, every symbol, and every story that the artisans have safeguarded for generations. That night, fashion was a testament to this. And as the show closed, we were left with the feeling of having witnessed something that truly matters in fashion and tradition.
