The head of the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC), Omar García Harfuch, reported on Sunday, December 7, the arrest of 12 alleged members of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG) in the state of Chiapas, as a result of a coordinated operation carried out in the municipality of San Cristóbal de Las Casas.
The official shared the details via social media, highlighting the participation of various law enforcement agencies in a joint action focused on combating organized crime.
The detainees claimed to belong to the Jalisco New Generation Cartel.
According to reports, the operation was led by the PAKAL Immediate Reaction Force, in coordination with the Chiapas State Attorney General’s Office (FGE Chiapas), the Federal Attorney General’s Office (FGR), the Secretariat of National Defense (SEDENA), the National Guard (GN), and the Secretariat of the Navy (SEMAR).
During the operation, authorities arrested 12 people who claimed to belong to the CJNG cartel.
Twelve people claiming to belong to the CJNG cartel were arrested, and long and short firearms, vehicles used for drug trafficking, and tactical equipment were seized. “Thanks to this operation by the Joint Inter-Institutional Force, sources of violence are being deterred, criminal cells are being dismantled, and the security of the people of Chiapas is being strengthened,” reported the head of the SSPC (Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection) on his Twitter account.
High-powered weaponry, including long and short firearms, as well as vehicles, narcotics, and tactical equipment allegedly used by the detained group, were also seized.
García Harfuch emphasized that, thanks to this operation by the Joint Inter-Institutional Force, sources of violence are being deterred, criminal cells are being dismantled, and the security of the people of Chiapas is being strengthened.
In this regard, he highlighted the importance of coordinated work between federal and state agencies to effectively confront criminal groups.
