The Tuxtla Gutiérrez–San Cristóbal de Las Casas highway has inadequate signage, posing a risk to those traveling on this road, warned Rodulfo Gálvez Gómez, president of the Board of Trustees of the Heroic Fire Department of Tuxtla.
The representative pointed out that, although some signs exist, they are insufficient to guarantee the safety of motorists.
He indicated that one of the sections with the highest incidence of accidents is the one connecting Tuxtla with Chiapa de Corzo, where collisions frequently occur, especially involving motorcyclists.
Gálvez Gómez explained that some accidents are related to risky behaviors, such as driving without proper equipment or under inappropriate conditions, which increases the likelihood of accidents.
Given this situation, he called for a reinforcement of preventative measures, particularly among motorcyclists, recommending the use of helmets, gloves, and boots.
He also highlighted the “Your Helmet, Your Life” campaign, which focuses on promoting a culture of road safety, especially among young people and workers who use motorcycles as a daily means of transportation.
Finally, he urged the public to drive responsibly and prioritize safety to reduce accidents on this important transportation route.
