Chiapas Establishes November 24 as “Chiapas Coffee Day”

In a solemn session that will remain recorded in the historical memory of the coffee sector, the Honorable Congress of the State of Chiapas unanimously approved the resolution declaring November 24 of each year as “Chiapas Coffee Day.”

The decision, made by the members of the Coffee Commission of the Sixty-Ninth Legislature, not only establishes an official commemorative date but also creates a legislative tribute to the tradition, effort, and quality of a coffee bean that has positioned the state in the most demanding markets around the world.

The resolution was read and approved by the attending legislators, consolidating a recognition that goes beyond symbolism to become a tool for cultural and economic promotion. The session, held at the official headquarters of the Casa del Pueblo, included the presence of special guests and representatives from the sector, including the director of the Chiapas Coffee Institute, Jorge Utrilla Robles, and the municipal president of Jiquipilas, Venerita Vela Vendaño, as well as coffee producers who have made coffee the driving force of their communities.
