Over 2,000 AICM flights canceled in four days

On Wednesday, March 25, 661 canceled flights were recorded, the day with the most cancellations.

The Mexico City International Airport (AICM) reported the cancellation of two thousand 457 domestic and international flights this week, when Phase 2 of the contingency for coronavirus COVID-19 began.

From March 23 to 26, dozens of local and foreign airlines decided to cancel the flights due to low sales or the closing of borders in destination countries.

Last Monday, February 23, there were 531 cancellations, while on Tuesday, 24 (when the second stage officially entered into force), 634 were registered, said Santiago Argüero de Buen, manager of Social Communication at the AICM.

For Wednesday, March 25, 661 canceled flights were recorded , the highest; while according to the latest report, on Thursday, March 26, 631 trips were canceled, the official said.

In a tour of the capital’s Notimex airport, it was found that the screens indicated dozens of cancellations of departures and arrivals to national destinations, such as Reynosa, Oaxaca, Villahermosa, Torreón ; and international: San Antonio, Miami, Charlotte, Houston.
