TAG Airlines, the airline of the Mayan World, advances in the consolidation of its strategy to strengthen air connectivity in the Central American region and the south-southeast of Mexico.

Julio Gamero, CEO of TAG Airlines, stated that 2022 is a year of challenges and the company is determined to promote the development of the aviation and tourism industry, which are two fundamental engines for economic growth.

He reported that TAG Airlines is preparing the details for its new route that will connect Guatemala City with Mérida, Yucatán, which will begin operations in the first quarter of this year with four weekly frequencies and competitive rates. Likewise, it is preparing the new Guatemala-Oaxaca route.

He recalled that, during the recent Madrid International Tourism Fair (FITUR 2022), the airline signed a collaboration agreement with the Tourism Secretariats of the states that make up the Mayan World (Chiapas, Oaxaca, Quintana Roo, Tabasco, and Yucatán), to strengthen actions to promote tourist destinations in the region.

Additionally, he highlighted that, in a recent meeting with José Ricardo Botelho, Executive Director and CEO of the Latin American and Caribbean Air Transport Association (ALTA), this international organization recognized the leadership of TAG Airlines to strengthen connectivity in Central America and in destinations of the Mayan World.

Taking stock of the actions undertaken by the airline, Julio Gamero indicated that last August, TAG Airlines launched its first two routes in Mexico, with the Guatemala-Tapachula and Cancun-Guatemala flights, which benefit tourists and businessmen. traveling to both destinations.

In addition, on December 1, it put into operation the route that connects the city of Cancun, Quintana Roo, with Flores, in the Guatemalan Petén region. This route is of special importance, since it joins the Mexican Caribbean with the most emblematic archaeological zone of the Mayan World: Tikal.

The Mayan World has become a global benchmark for travel and tourism, and TAG Airlines has the firm objective of continuing to strengthen connectivity in this region.
