The municipal president of San Cristóbal de Las Casas, Mariano Díaz Ochoa, declared to Alerta Chiapas that the video that circulates of the appearance of a self-defense group is false.
He indicated that when the City Council that he heads found out about the alleged fact, a Security Table with military and security authorities was implemented and there it was determined that the video is apocryphal, to which they mounted the voice.
“It was a video but it is not from San Cristóbal de Las Casas, they only edited it and gave it a voice; but it does not correspond to San Cristóbal de Las Casas for any reason, that is false, it is a lie; they do it (inaudible) there are many people who do it for, but it is not San Cristóbal de Las Casas, there is no such self-defense group, that is a lie ”, he assured.
The recording shows a large group of heavily armed people, with bulletproof vests and their faces covered, in a natural environment. On the image is placed a legend that says “We are not a poster, we are self-defense of San Cristóbal and surroundings.”
The voice mentions that they arise with the intention of not allowing organized crime groups to enter San Cristóbal, Chamula and the Betania community, located in the municipality of Teopisca.
“We have enough with the fucking scooters, we are already watching, that is why we as self-defense groups will arrive and watch over peace and any scourge that wants to make a mess.”
The video caused concern among the public, since it occurs in a context of shootings, mainly by motorcycle identification cards, gangs that commit crimes in the city aboard motorcycles.
