The Jalisco Nueva Generación Cartel (CJNG) would be behind the murder of Gerónimo Ruiz that occurred last Monday, April 17, when men traveling on a motorcycle shot him several times, after his death various violent actions were unleashed in San Cristóbal de las Casas, Chiapas, such as shootings and burnings.

Through a recording shared on social networks during the night of Tuesday, January 19, the CJNG also threatened various people, including the mayor Mariano Alberto Díaz Ochoa and Romeo Alfredo Rodríguez López, director of the Municipal Police, as well as Narciso Ruiz, Geronimo’s cousin.

“San Cristóbal and its surroundings, as you already realized, we have already entered and the cleanup has already begun, we are the Jalisco Cartel and what happened to Jerónimo Ruiz will happen to Narciso Ruiz, alias El Narso, to Calafas, to Águila, to Birria, to Max and to all those groups of Motonetos that are supporting these scourges”, said the first part of his message.

The men carried weapons, had their faces covered and used an edited voice to make their threats. They also showed a narco-message that said: “The clean continues, understand that the CJNG company is in charge here” and they listed some nicknames.

It should be noted that the subjects mentioned Los Motonetos, which is a group that operates in San Cristóbal de las Casas that has been related to drug sales, kidnappings, homicides, vehicle theft and other violent actions.

In the area where Jerónimo Ruiz was assassinated, there were around 300 people with weapons, according to what was reported by correspondent Argenis Esquipulas of the Radio Fórmula outlet, who also detailed that vehicles were burned.

But in Chiapas the presence of another criminal group known as the San Juan Chamula Cartel (CSJC) has been registered, which copied the form of organization of another criminal group: Los Zetas, a group that managed to have a presence in the entity. The CSJC would be made up mostly of indigenous people.
