In San Cristóbal de las Casas, the play Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare will be presented from July 18 to August 5, with 20 actors on stage for one hour and 20 minutes, a production by Chiapas actors Iram Castillo, Francisco Mayorga , responsible for the Renaissance costumes that had to import fabrics and Mario Ramírez, responsible for the set design.

Castillo explained at a press conference that the play will be at the Zebadua Theater in the center of San Cristóbal de las Casas, to present what he has considered as a great play and that he has been planning it for ten years, there will also be an interaction with the public in the streets of that colonial city.

He said that we are trying to position San Cristóbal de las Casas as the cultural capital of Mexico, Julieta is a girl from that city, who says she is lucky to be the main actress, the same as Romeo, who invites you to take the opportunity to attend , it is about doing theater, it is the best moment in which there are still lags from the pandemic, to lend an art to the world, that Chiapas sounds with art and culture.

That is San Cristóbal de las Casas, culture, and a multicultural society where we all fit, thanks to everyone, among the actors is the businessman Herber Castellanos, who always raises his hands when there are blockades, and now together we deal with culture.

The producer and designer Francisco Mayorga said that he has had to import the fabrics, he has settled in the Renaissance to do his best, he is happy and satisfied with what is being done, the work was presented for the first time in 1595, it is set In the Renaissance, therefore, to make the costumes there is a documentation of images, so that in San Cristóbal de las Casas it is a success.

Meanwhile, Mario Ramírez, producer and responsible for the set design, added that the three producers worked with the great maestro Luis Alaminos, on El Sueño de una Noche de Verano, at the Emilio Rabasa City Theater and at the Botanical Garden in Tuxtla Gutiérrez. In the 60s, I currently have a great taste for the theater, and we are going to send a loving message from San Cristóbal de las Casas, with a very romantic scenery for recreation.
