From July 28 to August 4, the exhibition and sale of artisanal sweets and traditional Coleto bread, called “La Feria del Dulce 2024”, will be held in San Cristóbal de Las Casas, as reported by Lino David Ballinas Mijangos, organizer of the event.
He indicated that the exhibition and sale will be installed in the main corridor of the San Cristóbal Museum (Musac). “Let us remember that we are a people whose identity relies heavily on gastronomy, such as traditional sweets. It is part of our identity, and we are inviting everyone to visit us.”
He added that there will be the participation of 56 sweet artisans, including men, women, young people, mainly senior citizens, who follow in the footsteps of their ancestors in making sweets.
“Among the most anticipated sweets are the yemita, a sweet originating from San Cristóbal that is made by very few people, and crystallized and honeyed chimbos, among others.”
Ballinas Mijangos, highlighted that the Sweet Fair is not only an opportunity to taste these delicacies, but also to appreciate and support the artisanal work that keeps the region’s sweet tradition alive. Finally, he invited locals and visitors to attend the Sweet Fair 2024 and enjoy the rich gastronomic tradition of this cultural city.
