A driver was assaulted on the Periférico Norte Poniente, near the Mercado de la Zona Norte, by a group of alleged “motonetos” this past weekend in San Cristóbal de Las Casas.
According to the official report, approximately ten individuals surrounded a white Jetta and verbally and physically assaulted the driver, identified as 25-year-old Pablo “N”. The victim reported that he was intercepted by motorcyclists who demanded that he stop. When he did not comply, more motorcyclists joined the attack, forcing him out of the vehicle and physically assaulting him.
Members of the inter-institutional group responded to the emergency call, but the attackers managed to escape. During their patrol, they found a red and white Honda motorcycle without license plates abandoned near the market.
The motorcycle was seized and placed at the disposal of the Public Prosecutor’s Office to continue the investigation and determine the appropriate legal actions.
