Counterfeit licenses detected in bars and restaurants in San Cristóbal

At least 80 bars and restaurants in the municipality are operating with allegedly counterfeit licenses, according to information revealed during a meeting between municipal authorities and business owners. The irregular documentation was allegedly processed by an intermediary and has already been reported to the State Attorney General’s Office.

According to official information, none of the establishments present at the meeting have a valid regularization process with the City Council, despite having been operating for years. It was indicated that, to begin this process, owners must go in person to the Public Services and Municipal Treasury offices, as applications submitted by third parties will not be accepted.

Authorities reminded businesses that to obtain a legal operating license, businesses must comply with requirements established by local and federal regulations, such as COFEPRIS permits, Civil Protection, and land use change permits, among others. If these guidelines are not met, the City Council is not authorized to issue any permits.

The municipal government called for order and respect for the law, reiterating that it will support those seeking to operate in accordance with current regulations, but will act firmly against irregularities and false documentation.

“We want an orderly, safe San Cristóbal with businesses that contribute to the development of the municipality,” was the message that President Fabiola Ricci addressed to local business owners.
