According to State Civil Protection, 29 municipalities have now been affected by the rains of recent days. In Simojovel, a landslide in the El Jardín community affected the José de Allende y Unzaga elementary school, damaging seven classrooms. This occurred at night, so only material damage has been reported.
In the Ignacio Zaragoza ejido in the municipality of Villaflores, the river level rose above the bridge there, so it was cordoned off as a precautionary measure. The same situation occurred on the bridge in the Julián Grajales ejido in the municipality of Chiapa de Corzo.
In Salto de Agua, in the Tortuguero ejido, a pedestrian bridge collapsed due to the strong current of the Tulijá River, while in Mazatán, the Canal El Cabe River overflowed affecting four homes. Civil Protection reported that there are reports of at least 35 road landslides in different parts of the entity, none of which caused traffic closures, in addition, the rains will continue in much of the Chiapas territory.
