From Puerto Arista, the Secretary of Civil Protection of Chiapas, Mauricio Cordero Rodríguez, launched the beach cleanup campaign for risk reduction, called “Preventive Tide,” in which, for the first time, actions are being carried out simultaneously on 21 beaches in the state. Authorities from all three levels of government joined the effort in the municipalities of Tapachula, Mazatán, Suchiate, Acapetahua, Mapastepec, Tonalá, Pijijiapan, and Arriaga. Cordero Rodríguez was accompanied by the head of the Ministry of Environment and Natural History (Semahn), Magdalena Torres Abarca, and the mayor of Tonalá, Manuel Narcía Coutiño. During his remarks, the Secretary of Civil Protection emphasized that these actions aim to reduce the impact of waste, hazardous materials, and debris, especially in beach areas, in order to protect life and strengthen the resilience of coastal communities. This action was made possible thanks to the joint effort of the Secretariat of Civil Protection, the State Water Commission, the State Attorney General’s Office, the Secretariat of Health, the Secretariat of Public Security, the Secretariat of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries, the Secretariat of Infrastructure, the Secretariat of Environment and Natural History, and the Secretariat of Tourism.

With the upcoming Guadalupe-Reyes holiday period approaching, a record influx of tourists is expected thanks to the security and peace enjoyed by Chiapas, and these actions of prevention, cleanup, and respect for our environment contribute to strengthening tourism and environmental conservation.

Finally, Mauricio Cordero reiterated that a safer, cleaner Chiapas is being built, one deeply committed to protecting Mother Earth, with these actions being paramount in the New Era led by Governor Eduardo Ramírez Aguilar.
