During the current December holiday season, the tourist trams, known as “trenecitos” (little trains), are experiencing a high volume of domestic and international tourists in San Cristóbal de Las Casas, who are choosing this service to explore the main landmarks of the colonial city.

Operators of these trams noted that visitors are taking advantage of the tours to discover old streets, churches, museums, and historical sites, as well as enjoy the local culture, cuisine, and cool weather, which can drop to 0 or 1 degree Celsius in the mornings.

They indicated that an increase in tourist arrivals, both domestic and international, is expected during the end-of-year holidays. In response to this demand, the little trains have added new routes, including historical parks and churches, expanding the tourist experience in this city, which will celebrate its 500th anniversary in less than a year and a half.

One of the service representatives emphasized that tourist traffic remains strong and that the trams are prepared to accommodate thousands of visitors. He specified that the tours operate daily, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.

Tourists can board the trains on Avenida Insurgentes, in front of the candy and crafts market, located approximately three blocks from the Historic Center.

“This holiday season we are already receiving visitors; it’s peak season. We invite all tourists to visit San Cristóbal de Las Casas, a beautiful and safe city. We depend on tourism, and visitors are always welcome. The tours cost 100 pesos per person, last approximately one hour, and include museums, historic streets, and main churches,” the representative stated.

Finally, the operators reiterated their invitation to national and international tourists, emphasizing that San Cristóbal de Las Casas is a peaceful city, ready to welcome them with cultural and tourist experiences aboard the traditional tourist trains.
