The collapse of a bridge in the San Antonio Chuyipá ejido, in the municipality of Palenque, left approximately 250 people isolated after heavy rains on April 5th.
According to Civil Protection, the structure gave way due to erosion caused by the force of the water, which weakened the bridge’s base until it collapsed. The damage also extended to a section of approximately 280 meters of road, which was damaged by the currents.
Municipal authorities inspected the site on Monday and confirmed that the road remains closed due to the risk posed by the area. Residents of the ejido are now without direct access, complicating mobility and the delivery of basic supplies.
The damage to the infrastructure is forcing residents to seek alternative routes while the necessary actions to restore land access to the community are being evaluated.
Civil Protection urged the public to avoid the affected area and remain attentive to official announcements, due to the unstable conditions that persist following the recent rains.
