Following a scandal in which the manager of the Boxito store in Palenque humiliated a truck driver and had him jailed, citizens are demanding the store leave their municipality, as this is not the first time such abuse has occurred.
The incident began when a truck driver and his son arrived to unload merchandise. Exhausted from their journey, they fell asleep by the side of the road—without obstructing traffic—so they could unload the materials requested by Boxito early the next morning.
However, when the manager arrived, he rudely ordered them to leave and refused to accept the shipment, claiming they were under the influence of drugs and stating that he had already called the police.
Upon arrival, the officers listened only to the store manager’s account before subduing the driver and his son and taking them into custody at the police station, denying them the right to make a phone call.
After being released, the driver went public with the details of what the manager had done to him and his son. This sparked outrage among local residents, who are now calling for the store to leave their municipality.
Once this case came to light, further complaints against the store emerged, including allegations of mistreatment of customers and incomplete deliveries, among other issues.
