The Office of the Attorney General of the State of Chiapas reported that Mario Ángel, son of former school principal Mario Ballinas Ramos, was arrested as the alleged intellectual author of a homicide that occurred early Thursday morning in Teopisca.
Murder of Former School Principal in Teopisca
Mario Ballinas Ramos, 69, a retired teacher, former principal of Technical Secondary School No. 40, and former local leader of the PRI, was murdered at his home in the Ramajal neighborhood, in the municipal seat of Teopisca.
According to the police report, the body was found with a gunshot wound to the chest.
The Attorney General of the State, Jorge Luis Llaven Abarca, reported that the investigation established that two men entered the residence and shot the victim.
Prosecutor’s Office Points to His Son as Alleged Intellectual Author
The head of the Office of the Attorney General of the State said that investigators found no signs of violence, forced doors or damage to the home’s windows. Therefore, the investigation indicates that those responsible had access to the residence and were people known within the victim’s circle.
According to the Prosecutor’s Office, one of those involved is Mario Ángel, 38, Ballinas Ramos’ son, who has already been arrested and is being identified as the alleged intellectual author of the crime.
The detainee allegedly stated that he had problems related to debts and that this would have been the motive for the crime. According to the investigation, he and another person allegedly planned to rob the retired teacher.
Material Author Remains at Large
The Prosecutor’s Office reported that the alleged material perpetrator of the homicide has already been identified, but remains at large.
Police officers are maintaining a search operation in the region to locate and arrest him.
According to information provided by the Prosecutor’s Office, the two men allegedly entered the residence with the intention of committing a robbery. After being discovered, the aggressor allegedly fired a firearm at Ballinas Ramos.
Attorney General Jorge Luis Llaven Abarca stated that the alleged material perpetrator has been fully identified and that authorities continue taking action to bring him before the justice system.
