In the searches, firearms, cartridges for the exclusive use of the Army, vehicles, motorcycles and radio communication equipment have been seized.

The Mexican Army installed checkpoints and operations in the municipality of Chenalhó, Chiapas, to search for more than 48 weapons and 2,800 cartridges that were seized by a group arming a convoy of the National Guard , on July 8 in the community of Majomut.

All types of vehicles that transit the area are reviewed , in some cases the occupants descend from the unit.

The checkpoints are installed in the Mitontic community , and in the surroundings of the Majomut community , where the disarmament occurred.

The presence of the Mexican Army gives tranquility to the inhabitants of Chenalhó.

30 minutes from Majomut, in the municipality of Pantelhó, the National Guard, the Mexican Army, ministerial and state police, carry out searches of ranches and properties of people allegedly linked to crime.

One of the houses belongs to Austreberto “N”, identified as the alleged leader of one of the armed groups.

In the searches , firearms, cartridges for the exclusive use of the Army, vehicles, motorcycles and radio communication equipment have been seized .

At the entrance to Pantelhó, the Army installed barricades with tires and maintains a vehicle inspection checkpoint; here little by little the inhabitants return to the municipal seat like Don Carlos, who after three days of having fled due to the violence, returned to his home.

Despite the presence of federal and state forces, in the municipal seat of Pantelhó, the streets are empty.

The violence generated by the armed groups of Pantelhó and Chenalhó has caused the displacement of more than three thousand indigenous Tzotziles, who have taken refuge in communities of Chenalhó, Chalchihuitan, Larrainzar and San Cristóbal de las Casas.

Authorities have confirmed that operations in both Chenalhó and Pantelhó will continue to restore order and peace.
