New migrant caravan with 600 Venezuelans leaves Chiapas

Some 600 Venezuelan migrants who were stranded in Suchiate, Chiapas, left in a second caravan on Monday afternoon, they said they were tired of waiting for the Mexican immigration authorities to grant them a humanitarian visa to be able to move freely through Mexico.

A first caravan left last Saturday, with almost a thousand people, carrying with it a Venezuelan flag. Now the members of the second caravan carry the Venezuelan flag and hope to reach the center of the country, while they request the support of the immigration authorities.

Beatriz, a Venezuelan citizen, accused that Mexican authorities have returned her to the Mexico-Guatemala border multiple times.

“They have sent us back to Guatemala and it keeps us under the sun. On board a patrol of the Suchiate City Council ”, commented the woman who also stated that her son is sick and dehydrated.
