Following the recent armed confrontation between Mexican police forces and organized crime on the Mexico-Guatemala border, the governor of Chiapas, Eduardo Ramirez, held a meeting with Edgar Armando Gutiérrez Girón, Guatemala’s ambassador to Mexico, in which key issues related to public health and border security were discussed.
During the meeting, both authorities agreed on the importance of reactivating the Binational Security Roundtable between Mexico and Guatemala as a strategic mechanism to strengthen institutional collaboration in the border regions.
The governor highlighted the deep historical and cultural ties that unite both peoples, emphasizing that this rapprochement will generate concrete results for the benefit of the communities that share the southern border.
“We are sister nations with a thousand-year-old history in common, and without a doubt, this cooperation will allow us to move toward joint solutions with a positive impact,” said the Chiapas official.
