Chiapas remains one of the country’s most rich tourist destinations in terms of natural beauty, culture, and gastronomy. For those planning a four-day vacation, the budget will depend on the type of experience they seek, whether it’s an economical, comfortable trip or a stay with more amenities and activities.

Rosemberg Morales, a certified tour guide, mentioned that the state offers destinations for different budgets, from the beaches of the Soconusco region and the coast, to mountainous areas like the Coffee Route, as well as municipalities with natural and cultural attractions such as Tuxtla Chico and the “Chiapas Switzerland” (Unión Juárez).

He mentioned that, according to an estimated cost, a person can take a budget trip with an approximate budget of 2,800 to 4,000 pesos, considering affordable lodging options, meals at local establishments, basic transportation, and some low-cost tourist activities.

“On this type of trip, visitors can opt for budget hotels, local markets or restaurants, as well as nearby excursions that allow them to explore natural and cultural attractions like Izapa and Pico de Loro without significantly increasing their travel expenses,” he said.

He added that for those seeking greater comfort, the budget can increase to between five thousand and eight thousand pesos per person for four days, as this includes accommodations with better services, restaurants, more extensive transportation, and recreational activities that allow for a more complete experience.

He highlighted that there is a third option for a more comprehensive trip, where visitors spend more than 10,000 pesos per person. This type of experience includes higher-end hotels, where a night can cost between 2,600 and 4,500 pesos in establishments along the Coffee Route. This range varies depending on the type of room, the season, and the day of the week.

He explained that these tourists, in addition to dining at tourist restaurants, take specialized tours, hire private transportation, and have the opportunity to visit other destinations during their planned vacation.

“Among the main expenses is lodging, which can range from 900 pesos for budget options to over 4,000 pesos for more comfortable establishments. Food is also a significant factor, with an average cost that can range from 800 to over 3,000 pesos, depending on the traveler’s preferences,” he stated.

With proper planning, a four-day visit to Chiapas can be tailored to different budgets, as there are affordable tours as well as more comfortable experiences, although the latter involve higher costs.
